Do you need RV insurance in Nebraska?
To drive a motorhome, Nebraska law requires you to carry RV liability coverage and uninsured/underinsured motorist bodily injury coverage (UM/UIM BI). Liability coverage may pay for damages and injuries you cause on the road, and UM/UIM coverage can protect you and your RV if you're hit by a motorist with no insurance or insufficient coverage limits. You may raise your liability and UM/UIM limits if you need more coverage to fully protect your assets.

Do you need insurance on a camper in Nebraska?
If you have a camper, also known as a travel trailer, you're required to carry auto liability coverage for the vehicle you use to pull your camper. Note that liability coverage won't cover damage to your travel trailer or motorhome. You can purchase RV comprehensive and collision coverage to protect against RV damage, but they aren't required by state law. Learn more about travel trailer insurance.
Comprehensive and collision coverage
If you're financing or leasing your motorhome or travel trailer, lenders typically require RV comprehensive and collision coverage. But even if you own your RV outright, comprehensive and collision can be crucial to protect against damage to what is often one of your most valuable assets. These coverages may cover the actual cash value of your RV if your motorhome or trailer is stolen or damaged beyond repair.
Comprehensive covers events out of your control, including RV theft, vandalism, fire, hitting an animal, and weather-related issues. Collision covers your RV if you collide with another vehicle, tree, fence, guardrail, or any object.
How much is RV insurance in Nebraska?
The average premium for a 12-month Nebraska RV insurance policy at Progressive for 2023 was $781.90 for a motorhome and $730.04 for a travel trailer. Progressive offers RV policies starting at just $125/year* but your cost for RV insurance depends on several components, including:
- Type and model: The more expensive your RV is to repair or replace, the more you pay to insure it. Larger, newer RVs often cost more than smaller, used RVs; and motorhomes typically cost more than travel trailers or pop-ups.
- Claims history: Your history of filing insurance claims may affect your rate.
- Driving record: Violations can increase the price of your policy.
- Location: Your ZIP code can influence the cost of RV insurance.
